Diamond from the ashes

The two hands symbolises the partnership between the Customers and NNE. The importance of human involvement and long-term thinking. The flash light represent creativity and innovation and also the transformation from the stored energy inside the uranium atom to energy that can be consumed like electricity. The colour representingĀ the Cherenkov radiation which is a form of energy that we can perceive as a blue glow emitted when the electrically charged particles that compose atoms (i.e. electrons and protons) are moving at speeds faster than that of light in a specific medium.
"Diamond from the ashes" is a metaphor used to describe something beautiful, valuable or powerful that emerges from a difficult or destructive situation. It may refer to how diamonds, which are one of the hardest and most valuable natural materials, are formed under extreme conditions of heat and pressure in the Earth's interior. On a more figurative level, the expression is used to describe how people or situations can develop and improve despite, or because of, setbacks and difficulties.
The last BWR reactor commissioned in Europe was Forsmark 3, which was connected to the grid on August 15, 1985. This is now 39 years ago. Now that we are going to revitalize and renew the BWR technology, it can really be likened to the metaphor - "diamond from the ashes".
It is no exaggeration to say that the Swedish-developed BWR technology has been successful. The plants were built and taken into operation reliably, and within short time and low cost schedules. Thanks to the forward-thinking design of the facilities, they have been stepwised adapted to produce more power - some units are now producing more than 30% more power than when delivered - and achieve improved safety as required by owners and regulators. The facilities are now being prepared for many decades of additional operation.
With this foundation, Sweden will again become a Nordic power center for new nuclear technology. The foundation for the energy of the future, which is plannable, safe and sustainable, has been laid.
